We advocate the development of an alternative low cost tool that will meet the market’s standard needs. This powerful CAD engine has progressively been joined by licensed technologies from various companies that add their costs to the price of the end product. These technologies manipulate raster images, printing systems and rendering technologies, for instance. The outcome is a balanced cost-profit equation in the delivery of key tools for CAD work that meet close to 100 percent of the needs of basic to advanced CAD work environments. Other CAD tools, such as AutoCAD®, are private developments or acquired licensed technologies that offer powerful CAD software that seeks to answer all of CAD users’ potential needs in a single, highly powerful multi-purpose package.
